Today as we observe Good Friday, we want to recognize a signature feature of our school building.
Designed by Jackson & Ryan Architects @jacksonryanarchitects and added during renovation, the elevator tower has become a focal point of our school - currently serving as our main entrance for all students and faculty / staff on a daily basis.
The elevator tower is clad in metal panels with a Crucifix on one side. The Crucifix is a modern sculptural interpretation of a Crucifix which focuses on the five wounds of Christ. The wounds are depicted as cuts in the metal panels for the nails and lance, and a serrated edge for the Crown of Thorns.
The intention is to focus our attention to the corresponding sacrifice that we are called to do in response to Christ’s sacrifice. The Crucifix is illuminated at night from within the sculpture. The elevator tower and Crucifix sculpture are representative to the mission of our school and was funded by a gift from The Scanlan Foundation in honor of His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo.
This year it has become an even more important symbol of our school with the photo of the elevator tower and the Crucifix on it being a prominent feature on the wrap on our school bus to highlight our Catholic identity, as well as the Crucifix being incorporated as an important symbol in one of the options of our new Guardian mascot done pro bono for us by Bullpen Marketing @bullpenmarketing.

Earlier this week, in Biology class, in the laboratory, the freshmen performed a frog dissection to examine the internal anatomy and major organ systems of a vertebrate. The activity provided insight into the relationships between anatomical structures and their biological functions. They truly enjoyed the lab and dissection!

We had a fantastic time at our Guardian Kick-Off this past Saturday welcoming our newly accepted future Guardians and their families!
Guests enjoyed a presentation from Dr. Martinez and our school staff, participated in a helpful parent question and answer session, and had an opportunity to tour campus with our current students. One of the highlights of the day was celebrating those who have already enrolled, as they officially “signed” their commitment to join us as Guardians next school year!
We are so excited for what’s ahead - welcome to the Guardian community!
